Charges/Fees (Applies to CEU, Online or In-Person, and Prep Classes)

By using the site to attend classes/courses either online or in person, the attendee acknowledges that they are incurring a cost associated with a service.  Fees are due at time of service.

The services are for instruction time or access to the online materials. Fees are due for this time or access regardless of the student’s engagement or success in the requirements. Courses certified for CEU credit are submitted for student successful completion, and included with the fees, where applicable–provided the student complies with all requirements (attendance, exam, etc.).

For online courses, some courses require payment at the end of the courses, the student is free to take the course as many times as necessary to obtain a passing grade but must pay for final acceptance of that final grade and any submission to licensing/certification agency for processing of continuing education credit.  For online courses, some courses require payment in advance of attendance/access to the courses and/or materials.  Payment is required and any attempt to circumvent or alter the payment process will result in removal from the site.

Classroom course/classes sign-up on the site by the attendee is an agreement for payment for services.  Fees for attendance and/or credits for continuing education is due at time of the class.  The attendee is ultimately responsible for the charges made.  Verify Training, LLC will make reasonable attempts to secure payment but reserves the right to contract a collection agent if payment is not made within 30 days of attendance in class.

Career School Courses (Applies to Boiler 80 Hour Classes; RCW 28C.10 Requirement)

Verify Training LLC operates a licensed career school in compliance with RCW 28C.10 for classes longer than single-day sessions.  Specifically, the Boiler Fundamentals & Safety (Boiler 80-hour) course. Policies for that course are unique and are required by law, required due to the nature of the course, or required by the City of Seattle, Pressure Vessel Section.

  1. Enrollment Agreement (required by RCW 28C.10). The student will be required to enter into a written agreement for the course. This is a legal and binding obligation for Verify Training LLC to provide the course, and for the student to pay for the course.  This will be in place prior to the instruction time of the course–but may be done just prior to the first hour on the first day of the course.  This document contains several clauses required by RCW 28C.10 for the protection of both the student and the school.  Whenever a difference appears between these terms and conditions, the signed contract document shall be the governing document.  Any changes to the agreement must be in writing and agreed upon by both parties.
  2. Cancellation and Refund (required by RCW 28C.10). The student may cancel the agreement at the earlier of either–(A) five business days (not including holidays or weekends) since the signing of the agreement -or- (B) five business days (not including holidays or weekends) since the payment of the course fees, whichever comes first, to obtain a full (100%) refund.  After the five days, Verify Training LLC may retain a $25 registration fee used to create/update/manage the record-keeping requirements for this program.
  3. Partial Refund Policy (required by RCW 28C.10). The student is eligible for a partial refund of tuition if the student withdraws or cancels their enrollment after the first day of class in the following percentages:
    1. If Verify Training cancels the course: student tuition refund at 100%
    2. If the applicant is not accepted into the program: student tuition refund at 100%
    3. If the student cancels their registration within five business days after signing the contract or initial payment is made, whichever is first, provided they have not yet attended any training session or hours.
    4. After the fifth business day, Verify Training may retain the registration fee
    5. Once the student has started the course, any refund due will be by a percentage of completion:
      1. Cancel in week 1: student refund at 90%
      2. Cancel after week 2, before week 3: student refund at 75%
      3. Cancel after week 3, before week 5: student refund at 50%
      4. Cancel after week 5: student refund at 0%
    6. The official date of a student’s termination is the last day of recorded attendance:
      1. When the school receives the student’s intention to discontinue the training program -or-
      2. When the student is terminated for a violation of a published school policy -or-
      3. When a student, without notice, fails to attend classes for thirty calendar days
    7. All refunds will be paid within thirty calendar days of the student’s official termination date.
  4. Attendance (Required by City of Seattle): In order to satisfy the requirements of the 80 hours of instruction and lab to meet the City of Seattle Boiler Fireman and License Law, section 6.420.080B, students must attend a minimum of 72 hours (90%), pass all quizzes and exams, attend all field-trips, and pass the final exam.  Each class session is 8 hours in length.  Students may be allowed a make-up (1 only) if they have already missed one of the 8-hour sessions, are in good standing with all other quizzes and assignments, and a make-up class is available.  Such a decision is exclusively the instructor of the class, and that instructor’s decision is final.  Students who miss more than two sessions, will not satisfy the requirements of the City of Seattle and are automatically withdrawn from the class.  This will automatically activate any refund policy in place at the time of the withdrawal (cancellation) of the student and Verify Training will refund the payer of the course per the refund policy in effect at the time the student signed the agreement.
    1. If the student cannot pass a quiz or exam, a second attempt will be provided, as long as the student meets all attendance requirements
    2. A make-up class session may be permitted by the instructor as long as the student meets all passing scores on quizzes and exams. Such make-up session may be a Boiler Refresher 8-hour course, Boiler Prep-for-Exam 8-hour course, or similar, conducted by Verify Training, and all requirements to complete that single-day course must be performed successfully by the student including attendance and quiz/exam.
  5. Textbooks: The textbooks related to the Boiler Fundamentals & Safety class are required. These texts are obtained by Verify Training for each student in the class, and the fee for the textbooks is itemized in the original agreement in effect at the time the student registers.  Textbooks are material goods and are subject to damage.  Students are encouraged to keep these books after the class for their reference on the job.  Textbooks that are unopened or in perfect (new) condition may be sold back to Verify Training at the exact same price paid for by the student if the student cancels or withdraws from the course.  Textbooks not considered to be in perfect (new) condition may be rejected by Verify Training. Textbooks are not automatically covered by the refund policy.  Once the student accepts the books, the transaction is complete.  If the student has yet to receive the books and requests a refund, the books have not been transferred and a refund for the textbooks will be at 100% of the cost paid.
  6. Behavior: The student shall conduct themselves in a professional manner at all times prior to, during, and immediately following the class sessions.  This includes interactions with the instructor, staff, other students, contractors, and other non-students on the premises or at the field trip location. Mis-behavior will result in disciplinary action, up to and including termination of the student’s enrollment agreement. The Managing Instructor has the final say in the level of discipline in all cases. The following list of behaviors will not be tolerated (included but not limited to):
    1. Discriminatory Behavior–including remarks that violate any protected status
    2. Horseplay (running, throwing items, yelling, wrestling)
    3. Fighting, threats of violence, intimidating behavior, or possession of a weapon in the classroom or field trip area
    4. Cheating on any quiz or exam, including harvesting questions for another person to use to cheat
    5. Theft of any materials, including intellectual property
    6. Damage to classroom items, trainers, facility, landscaping
  7. Unfair Business Practices: Verify Training LLC will not sell your agreement to another school, or sell any obligation of money to another entity.  If a substitute instruction program is required to satisfy the terms of the agreement (other than cancellation and refund), the student will be made aware of this in writing and will be asked to choose either the substitute or refund.  The refund policy on the original agreement will be in effect until the student withdraws or completes the course.
  8. Course Completion Requirements: A student who chooses to attend the Boiler Fundamentals & Safety (Boiler 80-Hour) Course must satisfactorily:
    1. Follow all attendance policies, including the one described here
    2. Attend at least 90% of all class and lab time, but must not miss the onsite field trip(s)
    3. Pass all quizzes and exams, doing the assigned homework and reading is essential to passing the quizzes and exams
    4. Participate while in class and in lab in a professional manner
    5. Enter into the enrollment agreement (signed, initialed, and all required areas fill in completely and truthfully)
    6. Pay for the course in full
  9. Certification and Career Requirements: If the student successfully completes the course and is awarded a certificate, that student now meets the requirements outlined in the Seattle Boiler Fireman and Steam Engineer License Law (City of Seattle, 6.420.080B) as receiving an “education substitution” for experience hours qualifying the student to take the exam for a Grade 4 Boiler Fireman.  Verify Training may communicate the student’s completion status to the City of Seattle, but will not provide the exam, assist with the exam, or grade the exam.  That role is solely the City of Seattle and its chosen contractor(s) responsibility. Taking the exam is the responsibility of the student once they have completed the course.
  10. Non-Transferrable: The certificate awarded by completion of this course does not have any pre-approved transfer of credit agreement in place with any educational institution.

Career Training and Education Disclaimer (RCW 28C.10 Requirement)

Education costs are expensive. Jobs in the trades pay well, but some jobs have low starting pay. Before you enter into any agreement for classes, be certain:

  1. Who is paying for these classes. While many students are lucky enough to have an employer support them by paying for classes, this is not a requirement in Washington State.  If you believe your employer is paying for these classes, the agreement for payment must be made in writing between Verify Training LLC and your payer (employer or anyone else).
  2. You are responsible for:
    1. Payment of any services you obtain, even if someone else is paying for these. Until that debt is settled, you (not your employer, or government agent, or loan officer) is responsible for this debt.
    2. Attending the training in good faith, participating, being on time, performing the necessary tasks such as taking notes, passing quizzes and exams, finishing homework, and being professional while in the classroom.
    3. Retaining all documents until you are certain that the licensing agency (such as City of Seattle, Washington LNI, or Tacoma/Bates Technical College) has received your credit.
    4. Ensuring that all requirements of any payer that is not yourself is satisfied, such as providing a copy of the receipt/invoice and course completion certificate to your employer, sponsor, etc.
  3. Your own employment.  You, not Verify Training are responsible for finding a job, including job searching, application, the agreement for work if non-union, and your pay/benefits.  Verify Training does not act as a recruiter, job placement agent, employment agent, referral service, or “make some calls” for students before, during, or after the courses.  If a job is posted in the classroom, it is only to advise that one exists, and includes the contact information on the job posting.  Verify Training is only seeking to provide information, not broker an agreement between a job candidate and employer.
    1. The City of Seattle maintains a list of certified individuals. Names and other identifying information such as mailing addresses and grade of license/expiration date, is included in this information.  As of 2020, there were over 2100 licensed boiler operators in this program. This number is a similar number to prior years.
    2. Boiler operators are employed in many industries, wherever boilers are used for heating or industrial manufacturing.  Job seekers should consult local job boards, and specific industries known to use boilers, such as, but not limited to:
      1. Hospitals
      2. Medical Research
      3. Bakeries
      4. Commercial Real-Estate
      5. Commercial Laundries
      6. Breweries
      7. Cardboard manufacturing
    3.

Verify Training is responsible for:

  1. Acting in good faith to provide courses that you can benefit from.
  2. Retaining records of your course in the event the licensing agency requires them or you need a copy later.
  3. Creating, adjusting, maintaining courses that meet/exceed minimum requirements, and certifying these courses through the appropriate agency for credit prior to allowing registration or presenting the materials.
  4. Operate in a legal capacity in Washington State, including following the requirements of the licensing agency for presentation of the courses (such as minimum hours, exams, etc.)
  5.
